OPEN ARTISTS INVITATION
We are pleased to announce one of the most important multicultural activities that the Manuel Zapata-Olivella Afro Latino Development Center (MZO Center) is planning in 2010, our Third Annual Visual Arts Exhibit of the African Diaspora. In the exhibit, we hope to present art works inspired by themes such as cultural diversity, community development, visibility, identity construction, inequality, displacement, marginalization, human trafficking, and domestic violence. This event is aimed at addressing main concerns of marginalized communities, with an emphasis on different realities of the African Diaspora. The exhibit will be on display in September, 2010, at the Fellowship Hall in Wesley United Methodist Church, 5312 Connecticut Avenue, NW, Washington, DC 20015.

With this multicultural event we want to contribute to the development of a collective consciousness with respect to the diverse socio-economic conditions of afro-descendant communities in the Americas. To this end, we hope to promote awareness of their varied social/cultural contributions to support the process of identity construction.
